Fresh from earning the first "C" I've ever received on a science test, it only seems right to share that Christopher over at Clever Fool has handed me a ...

... because I'm such a smartie.
So the rules are that I get a few bragging rights here and there because someone out there thinks I'm brilliant (is it too much of a leap from "thinking" to "brilliant"? I think not ...), and then award five others who I believe deserve it as well.
I list these in alphabetical order because I'm horribly insecure and I want everyone to like me.
- JP at All Things Bitter. Sure, he spends a lot of time discussing Paris Hilton and the undie-less existence of Britney and LiLo, but he totally deserves the award because hello ... dying is easy, comedy is hard.
- Lynette at Big Ass Belle. She gets picked because she thinks things all the way through to their logical conclusion. At the moment, she's pissed off as all get-out over the state of our union, which proves to me that she thinks about this stuff a lot more than I have the energy for. Angry but never grumpy, caring but never schmaltzy, saucy but never trashy, she's my new favorite diva.
- QuakerJono at Forgotten Beatitudes. He and I often disagree, but hey, that's what comes when one thinks for oneself. No doormat he, a visit to his domain is never dull, particularly when he's blogging after a three-martini evening. And yeah ... teacher's pet over there got an "A" on the science test.
- Lorraine at Here's the Dish. This is the one blog on my list that isn't on my blogroll. I link to Lorraine at her other blogs, Here's the Thing and Here's the 80's (where she spins alongside VJ JP), but I read The Dish quite often. In addition to being a mom, party planner extraordinaire, and Queen of the Exalted Order of the Koihead, Lorraine is a foodie. I'm so not a foodie, but I enjoy reading Lorraine's food blog anyway, because when someone is that passionate -- and smart! -- about whatever it is they're writing on, it's fun to read. And she's one smart cookie. See? Foodie joke.
- Tater at ... well, Tater. I often complain that Tater doesn't blog nearly as often as I'd like him to but -- when he does, he posts essays that spill right off of the screen and directly into my heart ... or brain, or another vital organ of his choosing. He's a magnificent writer, and it's probably a good thing he doesn't post every day because hi, I need to work sometime.
Okay, that's my list. Feel free to visit these fine ladies and gents at your leisure (Now! Do it now!) if you haven't already. JP, Lynette, QJ, Lorraine, and Tater -- your turn. To whom would you grant a "Thinking Blogger" award? You can bestow prizes upon each other if you must, but you can't give it back to me. I don't know if that's an established rule or not, but if it isn't, it ought to be ... because I thought of it, and hi ... I was nominated for a Thinking Blogger Award.
UPDATE: Thanks to Tater (who we like, we really really like), the gang now includes I Need More Cowbell (who we totally heart) and Auld Hat (who we totally luuuuurve).

7 Told Me a Secret:
Congratulations. And thanks for introducing me to two blogs I wasn't familiar with.
And, not that it really matters but, I couldn't agree with you more about our Lynette and Tater. I visit BAB regularly throughout the day and frankly tater just doesn't post enough for me.
Well, honey, that was so sweet of you. Thanks. I'll get right on my nominations, as soon as I bake you an applesauce cake!
You Get CAKE? I never get ANYTHING! Thank you for your kind words and considered opinion. To be included in a award list with BAB is indeed an honor!
You picked excellent blogs and I agree....everyone should visit them. You, Eric, are so deserving. I love your blog. Because you do think, are rational and usually right....even if you did get a C.
Yes, three martinis is the point where things quickly turn from fun to tragic.
I'm holding at two tonight, though. Don't want to risk my ginormous brain as it one day might save the world with it's accumulated knowledge of 8th grade scientific concepts. Also, I ran out of olives.
Thanks for the nomination. I must now ponder an appropriate response for this...
Hey, congrats! Your site is definitely one of my favorites. Yours is a voice of reason that encourages people to open their minds, rather than putting folks on the defensive about those pesky touchy issues. Yay for you!
(PS - Hi, I'm a fellow Thinking Blogger now.)
Willym: Which two blogs had not you seen? And have you seen them now? And?
Lorraine: With any luck, I'll be your way this time next year to collect!
Tater: Of COURSE I get cake. I'm tellin' ya, make friends with the foodies. And there ain't no friendlier foodie than our Lorraine!!
Rosemary: Aw thank you so m-- Pft. Rub it in, whydontcha. :-)
QJ: I'll be watching your blog for the winners to appear. Gawd, it's just like the Tony Awards ... except not.
Cowbell: Hooray for Thinking Bloggers! I think that there ought to be a new sitcom this fall entitled "Everybody Loves Cowbell." Because, really, how can you not?
